The meeting held by the Department of Skills Development (JPK) aims to complete the listing of job titles and job descriptions and competency requirements for the economic sector in Malaysia. The occupational framework referring to two sectors:
C13 - Manufacture of Textiles: This sector involves the production of textiles, which includes processes such as spinning, weaving, knitting, and finishing of fabrics. Textile manufacturing encompasses a wide range of activities, from the production of raw materials like yarns and threads to the creation of finished textile products.
C14 - Manufacture of Wearing Apparel: This sector involves the production of clothing and apparel items. It includes activities such as designing, cutting, sewing, and assembling garments. This sector covers a diverse range of products, including outerwear, innerwear, sportswear, and accessories.
Both sectors are crucial components of the global textile and apparel industry, which plays a significant role in the economy and employs millions of people worldwide. These sectors are often closely intertwined, as textile manufacturers supply fabrics and materials to apparel manufacturers for the production of garments.
The discussion on the occupational framework in a typical manufacturing operation, progressing from entry-level positions up to the general manager level.

AFTEX delegates to Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics
MTMA under the Asian Federation of Textile Industry was invited to speak at the round table on the ASEAN textile and apparel industry sharing session during the conference.
Speaker: Dato Sri Tan Thian Poh, President of MTMA, delivered the paper on behalf of MTMA during the round table session. His expertise and leadership in the industry make him a fitting representative to articulate Malaysia's perspective and contributions to the ASEAN textile and apparel sector.
Coordination: Kudos to Ms. Regina Louis Leong, Secretary General of MTMA, for coordinating the AFTEX delegate and ensuring seamless participation in the round table session. Her efforts demonstrate effective leadership and organizational skills in facilitating MTMA's involvement in regional industry events.
Collaboration: Participation in events like the ASEAN textile and apparel industry sharing session fosters collaboration and knowledge exchange among industry players across the region. By sharing insights, best practices, and challenges, MTMA and AFTEX contribute to the advancement of the ASEAN textile and apparel industry as a whole.
Overall, being invited to speak at the round table session reflects the respect and recognition that MTMA and AFTEX command within the ASEAN textile and apparel community. Through active participation and collaboration in such events, both organizations play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the regional textile and apparel industry.

CSR Project: Education Talk at UNITEN
It's wonderful to hear that the Malaysian Textiles Manufacturers Association (MATAC) is actively involved in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, particularly in promoting sustainability. Accepting an invitation from Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) to speak on promoting a sustainable lifestyle reflects MTMA's commitment to raising awareness and educating the younger generation about sustainability within the fashion industry.
As key stakeholders in the fashion industry, MTMA recognizes the importance of integrating sustainability principles into business practices. By participating in events like the one at UNITEN, MTMA can share insights, best practices, and initiatives aimed at fostering sustainability within the fashion sector.

Engagement session with MIDF updates on SMEs
MTMA's participation in the engagement session with the Malaysian Industrial Development Finance (MIDF) provides a valuable opportunity to stay informed about updates on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and to contribute to the New Malaysia Plan. This session serves as a platform for discussing financial assistance programs aimed at supporting SMEs, particularly in the areas of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives and automation.

National Standard Committee Textile at Grande Pluse Hotel
Ms Regina Leong and Puan Hasnah, representing MTMA attended the National Standard Committee (NSC) Textile meeting at the Grande Pluse Hotel.
The NSC Textile meeting is chaired by Tuan Hj Abdul Majid, MATAC Member who has indicated leadership and expertise in guiding discussions and decisions related to setting national standards for the textile sector. Under his chairmanship, the committee aims to address industry challenges and promote quality and innovation within the textile industry.

MTMA’s participate in the engagement session with MITI to address the CPTPP and RCEP issues related with the textile and apparel industry. MTMA’s are represented by Mr Choong Chee Mun, Mr William Chua and Mr Seow Hon Cheong.

New Malaysia Plan Open Day hosted by MITI
Bringing 14 industry players to provide insights into the Textile, Apparel, and Footwear sectors at the National Industry 4.0 (NIMP) Overview demonstrates MTMA's commitment to driving growth and innovation within Malaysia's textile and fashion industry. As drivers for the business leaders in the industry, MTMA with other associations under the Federation of Malaysian Fashion Textile and Apparel eagerly anticipate policies, incentives, and initiatives that will further elevate and support the sector's development.

Apparel and Footwear Manufacturing Industry Skills Framework
MTMA's has been appointed as an association to develop the Apparel and Footwear Manufacturing Industry Skills Framework This document serves as a continuation of the initial textile manufacturing industry skills framework. The publication serves as a reference for the industry for the key competencies, skills, and knowledge required for various roles within the sector. 20 Subject Matter Expert within the industry were involved in the development stage.

China Textile City Overseas Mini Fair
The Textile Industry Trade Fair held at Sunway Velocity Hotel was jointly organized by the Malaysian Textile Manufacturers Association (MTMA) and the Shaoxing Keqiao Textile City Overseas Market Promotion Association (SKTCOMPA). The event saw the participation of 43 delegates from China representing various sectors of the textile industry. 23 companies were exhibiting their products and services, attracting a total of 80 visitors.
The event was graced by distinguished VVIP guests including Dato Sri Tan Thian Poh, President of MTMA, Mr. Wei Changhjun, Executive President of SKTCOMPA, Mr. Jun Han, Founder and CEO of Lanka Marketing & Consulting Co., and Ms. Rozita Ibrahim, Director of the Building Technology & Lifestyle Division at Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
The Textile Industry Trade Fair provided a platform for industry players to showcase their products, explore business opportunities, and foster partnerships between Malaysian and Chinese textile enterprises. With the presence of key stakeholders and industry experts, the event aimed to promote collaboration and innovation within the textile industry, furthering its growth and development in both Malaysia and China.
