Grading is an important part of the pattern and garment production process. Manual pattern grading is used across small fashion labels for grading one or two sizes. It involves the scaling of pattern sizes up and down from the base size, to provide an accurate fit in all sizes. This is a very useful skill both for the fashion professional and the home sewer.
OBJECTIVE
The outcome of this competency for pattern grading is to adjust your base size pattern to create other sizes. There are different methods to grade patterns, but the result is that you have a consistent visual across sizes.
